Reading 1978 Sonar Prints
What we can — and can't — say about a fifty-year-old return signal from a depth that shouldn't have one.
The original printout was kept in a manila envelope in the witness's attic, weighted under decades of tax returns. It's degraded, but the trace is clean enough. The anomaly sits at 88 feet, moves laterally at roughly 4 knots, and persists across three sweeps. That's not a thermocline.
